About the Program
The IRENA NewGen Renewable Energy Accelerator 2026 is a global, four-month hybrid accelerator program designed to support youth-led startups and innovators working on renewable energy and climate technologies.
Launched by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) with support from the Government of the UAE and in partnership with Social Alpha and Enel Foundation, the program focuses on enabling young entrepreneurs to develop scalable solutions that contribute to the global energy transition .
Unlike traditional accelerators that focus purely on business growth, NewGen combines:
- Technical capacity building
- Market-oriented mentoring
- Global ecosystem exposure
The program targets startups working across:
- Renewable energy technologies
- Climate adaptation solutions
- Climate mitigation innovations
Participants undergo a structured 4-month journey (June–September 2026) that includes expert-led sessions, workshops, and mentorship, followed by business linkage opportunities and participation in the IRENA Youth Award .
The program is global in nature, with startups from multiple countries participating. Previous cohorts have included startups from emerging markets working on solutions such as AI-driven agriculture, solar cooling, and battery-swapping networks .
