LOreal x Genopole Green Sciences Incubator (GSI) Startup Call 2026
Offered By - LOreal Research & Innovation
About the Program
This program is built for startups developing deeptech, biotech, or sustainability-driven solutions that can directly impact cosmetic formulations, materials, or processes. If your technology can improve how cosmetics are made through greener ingredients, low-carbon processes, or advanced scientific methods, this is the exact use case the program is targeting.
The L’Oréal Green Sciences Incubator (GSI) is a co-development and incubation initiative between L’Oréal Research & Innovation and Genopole (France’s leading biotech cluster). Unlike traditional accelerators, this program is structured as a technical collaboration platform, where startups work alongside L’Oréal’s R&D teams to integrate their innovation into real industrial applications.
The program runs for 6 to 12 months depending on the startup’s maturity and technical needs, and is tailored individually—meaning there is no fixed curriculum but rather a custom incubation path focused on solving specific technical and scaling challenges.
Startups are selected based on their ability to contribute to three core domains:
- Ingredients from new & resilient feedstocks (bio-based alternatives to traditional inputs)
- Low-carbon technologies (including circular processes, carbon capture, industrial side-stream utilization)
- Emerging green sciences (fermentation, green chemistry, hybrid scientific solutions)
What makes this program distinct is the depth of infrastructure and integration:
- Direct collaboration with L’Oréal scientific teams
- Access to Genopole’s biotech ecosystem, including fully equipped labs (BSL-1 & BSL-2), pilot-scale platforms, and specialized infrastructure like GATEx and Protopia
- Support across fundraising, market access, communication, and technology development
- Opportunity for post-program collaboration, co-development, or even investment with L’Oréal
The program is also highly application-focused. L’Oréal is specifically looking for innovations that can enhance core cosmetic functionalities such as:
- Emolliency and conditioning
- Film-forming and sensory effects
- Water gelification and surfactants
- Barrier function and hair conditioning
From a founder’s perspective, this is not a broad “startup program”—it’s a deep R&D collaboration gateway. It makes the most sense if you already have a working scientific solution and need lab validation, industrial integration, and a corporate partner to scale it. If your startup is not science-heavy or cannot plug into cosmetic applications, this will likely not convert into real value.
